Acting as a bridge between Harsil in Garhwal and Sangla in Himachal Pradesh, the Lamkhaga Pass at an elevation of 5,420 meters, is one of the high altitude mountain passes in the Garhwal Himalayan region. It is surrounded by several mountains those towering at an elevation above 5,000 to 6,000 meters. The trek to Sangla via Lamkhaga Pass is one of the toughest treks in the Indian Himalayan region that is located in the Garhwal Himalaya. It crosses through the dense forest of Deodar, Pine and Bhojpatra and then some downhill and uphill trail along the Jalindragad River to the meadows of Kyarkoti. The journey encounters through numerous alpine meadows, moraines and small gushing streams followed by several secluded hamlets. It also acquaint you with Baspa valley. Most of the trail being journeyed along the Indo – Tibetan border, one has to get an Inner Line Permit. The best time to hit the tracks is during the peak summer season and autumn.
The Lamkhaga Pass Trek starts from Harsil, which is approximately 265 kilometers up from Rishikesh. From Harsil the journey leads to Kyarkoti, which is a 14 kilometers trek and drops you at an elevation of 3,820 meters. Hence one could expect a steep climb right away from the first day of the trail. From Kyarkoti, the trek moves through a varied landscape and expunges to the glaciated tracks and lead to Lamkhaga Pass Base Camp at an altitude of 4,700 meters. Thereafter, the trail heads upwards to Lamkhaga Pass, which is quite tough trail, and thence moves down to Gundar at 4,400 meters. From Gundar the trail continues down to Dumti at 4,200 meters and later heads to Rani Kanda, which is a 9 kilometers trek from Dumti. The Lamkhaga Pass trekking tour leads off at Chitkul via Nagasthi and later wheels to Shimla via Sangla.

SHORT ITINERAY
Day 01: Rishikesh – Uttarkashi – Harsil (257 kms drive 10 -12 hrs.)
Day 02: Harsil – Gagnan – Lal devta temple (10 kms Trek 6 – 7 hrs. / 9,200ft)
Day 03: Lal devta -Kyarkoti – (5 kms Trek 5 – 6 hrs. / 12,000ft)
Day 04: Kyarkoti-Sukha Tal (9 kms Trek 5-6 hrs. /1 3,100ft)
Day 05: Sukha Tal-Pass ke Neeche (4 kms Trek 2 -3hrs. / 15,000ft)
Day 06: Pass ke Neeche-Lamkhaga Pass-Nichil Thhat (6 Kms Trek 6 – 7 hrs. / 17,335ft)
Day 07: Nichil That-Dumti – (12 kms Trek 7 – 8 hrs.12,000ft)
Day 08: Dumti-Ranikanda (12 kms Trek 6 – 7 hrs. / 11,000ft)
Day 09: Ranikanda-Chitkul – Sangla (10km trek –rest Drive 3 hrs.)

LONG ITINERAY

Day. 01Rishikes-Uttarkashi-Harsil(165kms)

 After Morning breakfast proceed for Harsil. On arrival check in to the hotel. Evening free for leisure overnight stay at hotel

Day 02.  Harsil-laldevta(10km/5h trek )

After breakfast start our trek up to Laldevta via dense forest, water falls and much more. On arrival at Laldevta . Overnight stay at tent.

Kyarkoti –  (5 kms Trek 5 – 6 hrs. / 12,000ft)

Kyarkoti-Sukha Tal  (9 kms Trek 5-6 hrs. /1 3,100ft)

Early morning breakfast packed lunch for enroute start our trek through the rough boulders to sukha tal and after few hours we will reach Sukha tal. Overnight stay in tents.

Day 05 Sukha Tal-Pass ke Neeche  (4 kms Trek 2 -3hrs. / 15,000ft)

After  morning breakfast we start our trek with packed lunch up to pass k neeche. The trek is upwards Overnight stay in tent.

Day 06 Pass ke Neeche-Lamkhaga Pass-Nichil Thatch (6 Kms Trek 6 – 7 hrs. / 17,335ft)

Early morning breakfast packed lunch for enroute start our trek through the rough boulders to cross the Lamkhaga Pass (5280 mts/17320 ft) and after few hours we will reach Nichil. Overnight stay in tents.

Day 07    Nichil That-Dumti – (12 kms Trek 7 – 8 hrs.12,000ft

Early morning take your breakfast and start your trek with packed lunch up to Dumti. The trek is upwards and downwards. On arrival overnight stay at Camp.

Day 08  Dumti-Ranikanda (12 kms Trek 6 – 7 hrs. / 11,000ft)

After breakfast explore the scenic beauty of Himalayas than start trek through lush green meadows, water falls. Overnight stay in the camp.

Day 09 Ranikanda-Chitkul – Sangla (10km trek –rest  Drive 3 hrs.)

After breakfast start our last day trek for trek to Chitkul. Dinner and overnight stay at camp at Sangla.
