Day 1: Dehradun to Sankri (210 km) (7/8 hours) (1920 m)

Our pick up point is Dehradun Railway station or ISBT, meet us there and then drive towards Sankri you can have your breakfast at Kempty Fall which is a famous picnic spot and is famous for a waterfall. Have your lunch in the middle of your journey at Purola.

Day 2: Sankri to Taluka (11 km) and to Cheludgad /Seema (12 Km) (4/5 hours) (2700 m)

Have your breakfast and then leave for Taluka by taxi, it is 11km away from Sankri when you reach there take a short break and start your trek towards Cheludgad, the trail takes you through dense pine forest, varieties of animals live in this region as it is rich in flora and fauna. The trail is rough and is not a very good condition.

When you trek through the dense forest, trees accompany you and languor’s hanging from one tree to another can be spotted there. The chirping of birds can be heard and rare species of birds can be seen here. The “Himalayan Monal” state bird of Uttarakhand is found in this area.

If you lack time to reach Cheludgad camp then 2 km ahead Taluka there is a campsite near a stream which is the water source for that campsite. Set up your tents and enjoy dinner and night stay in tents.

Day 3: Seema (Cheludgad) to Devsu Bugyal (7 Km) (3/4 hours) (3000 m)

  • Altitude gain: 3000 m

  • Tip: Carry sufficient water, at least 2 liters, from the campsite or refill from natural sources on the way.

Have breakfast and start your trek towards Devsu Bugyal (packed lunch will be provided). As soon as the trek starts and you ascend slowly then you get the amazing views of wide valleys and mountains covered in snow, these views are breathtaking, adding more beauty to them the sight of waterfalls can be caught.

Hike through a thick forest, rich in foliage and Flora, plenty of wildflowers grow here. The best thing about the forest is it is home to some rare species rarely seen anywhere else, the trail through this forest is a great part to spot different species of animals and birds.

Continue trekking and after crossing last steep climb you can reach Devsu Bugyal, camping here is a delight, this meadow is picturesque amidst Ruinsara forest with surpassing views of Mt. Kala Nag and Swargarohini. Camp here for the night and enjoy a relaxing stay in tents.

Day 4: Devsu Bugyal to Ruinsara Lake (12 Km) (6/7 hours) (3500 m)

  • Altitude gain: 3500 m

Today is a long trek so carry enough water and have proper breakfast before starting your trek. Enjoy mesmerizing views offered by this place throughout your trek, you have to almost ascend till you reach Ruinsara Lake. You will find loose stones on the trail and the path is muddy and sometimes it becomes slippery, trek along the Supin River, this is the last day of trekking along this river.

Cross the Supin River through a bridge and you will reach Ruinsara Lake also known as “Ruinsara Taal” The undulating meadows surround it and it lies in the middle of Swargarohini mountain ranges.

Here is the temple of Yamunotri, one of the Char Dhams and Yamunotri River, which is the source of Yamuna, the views of Bandarpoonch, Kala Nag and Swargarohini don’t leave your side. Trek along the river and you will reach your campsite where you can rest for the night.

Day 5: Ruinsara Lake to Odari (7 Km) (5 hours) (4100 m)

  • Altitude gain: 4100 m
  • Estimation time of completion: 5 hrs
  • Estimation distance of Drive: 7 km

Today’s trekking distance is 7 km from Ruinsara Lake to Odari (packed lunch is provided which you can have in the middle of the trek.)

Bali Pass Trekking is through a forest along the river, it is pleasant to walk by the side of serene and freshwater in the places which are least explored. Time taken to reach Odari campsite is 5 hours, have your lunch in the middle of your trek. Rest for some time and leave for your campsite.

Odari is a cave made of rock in which “Bali” spent one night. (Hanuman’s brother). It is a beautiful campsite where you can enjoy the views in a divine setting, tomorrow your trek is to Bali Pass so have proper food and rest in your tents to have good energy saved for tomorrow.

Day 6: Odari to Bali Pass summit (4953 m) Upper Damnai camp (6 km) (7/8 hours) (4600 m)

Toughest day has come with enormous challenges, you have to defeat them and successfully complete your climb to the summit (4,953 m). Have your breakfast early in the morning with a packed lunch so you can leave on time. The trail is covered by snow so carry proper trekking equipment, there are snow ridges that are steep and some are leveled.

Snow makes the Bali pass trekking challenge, the distance seems too long and you may get tired here so take rest breaks and then climb to the last ridge is exhilarating, finding the right route is difficult because of the large amount of snow. When you reach on top the glimpse of Yamunotri valley can be seen below.

Now a connecting ridge is visible, it is a sharp ascend to Bali Pass which is steep but it is only 10 minutes away, after reaching the top the panoramic views will leave you spellbound. Yamunotri, Bandarpoonch, Ruinsara and Black peak, they glimmer all together.

Descend, you need to be very careful while descending, use your equipment and slide down. A lot of distance can be covered in less time by sliding down and it is fun too. When you come down you can see snowfields and there are many trails to descend after some time forest of Upper and Lower Damnai will be visible, it is tricky to reach there, so be careful while your descent.

Your camping site is in the Upper Damnai region, it is a small spot for camping and a stream flows around it. Today was a hard day so have delicious food and relaxing stay in tents.

Day 7: Upper Damnai camp to Yamunotri Temple and Jan ki Chatti (12km) (7/8 hours) (2,575 m)

Today visit Yamunotri Temple which is one of the Char Dham’s, Yamunotri River is the source of River Ganga and “Yamuna” is the daughter of God “Surya”. This place is famous for a hot spring where people bath. Visit this holy place and leave for Jan Ki Chatti.

Descending is steep and the trail is connected to the old trail of Yamunotri, you go there and know about the values of people then leave for Jan Ki Chatti, the trail is well marked and built properly and two hours of trek will lead you there.

Day 8: jan ki Chatti to Dehradun (178 km)
